Speaker: David Carmichael, State Archivist of Pennsylvania
Topic:  "FINALLY...SOME NEW AND EXCITING ARCHITECTURE IS COMING TO HARRISBURG!"

The PA Historical and Museum Commission plans to erect a sparkling new expression of contemporary architecture for a city which is eager to have some!  Choosing the emerging North Sixth Street corridor for it's location, in proximity to the planned new Federal Court House this initiative will have a huge impact on the redeveloping Midtown area.  Construction of the new facility will begin in early 2018.  The three to four story building should take about two years to complete.  Our fellow Rotarian, Heather Hu, brought this to your program Czar thinking it would be a great program for us as our city energizes. It should be an interesting presentation which will impact our thinking and enthusiasm for our area!

Topic:  "CRISIS IN PA, REGIONAL AND HARRISBURG SCHOOL DISTRICTS: What You Can Do"!

It has been brought to your Czar's attention by our fellow Rotarian that there is a serious and emerging  crisis in our school districts!  Thus, when Deb Abel came to me and asked that this important issue be discussed and brought to the attention of our Rotary Club I provided enthusiastic access!  It is true that ther is a growing national teacher shortage and PA has been a net exporter of teachers.   That crisis is being addressed in order to positively impact PA, our region and especially our Harrisburg School District for which our club has a long standing and passionate commitment!  Our speakers today representing A + Teachers will share this important story and direct ways in which YOU and all of us can act on behalf of the solution! Please don't miss this doable "call for Service Above Self"!
