Eugene Barr, Executive Director of the PA Chamber of Commerce (Mon. 17 Jul, 2017 12:00 pm - 1:15 pm)

Topic:  "THE STATE OF PENNSYLVANIA'S ECONOMY NOW AND IN THE FUTURE"

As one of the largest and oldest states in the U.S., the state of our economy impacts us directly, as well as many other states in the country.  There is a perception that PA is often at the near bottom of the "best states" and generally near the top of the "worst states".   We could go on and on as to why that is!  But one of the key factors for good or ill is our state's economy.  Gene Barr is a highly regarded and recognized expert on the realities of the PA economy.  He has been invited to share his opinions, insights and predictions with us.  As somebody who cares about "what's in your wallet" you are advised not to miss this one!!!  Or any, in the humble opinion of your CZAR!

At Dixon University Center RSVP required - Char Magaro, longtime popular Restaurateur and Environmental Activist. (Mon. 24 Jul, 2017 12:00 pm - 1:15 pm)

Topic:  MY CONCERNING THOUGHTS REGARDING CLIMATE WARMING"

Now and then, especially in the summer, it seems intriguing to ask a well known member of our community, who is known by almost everybody for one thing and ask them about what they are really most concerned about!  When Char was asked, she had no hesitation in her quick response "what I really care about and am most concerned about is "our struggling environment" she said.  And thus, she has been asked to share her developing thoughts with all of us.  A topic much in the news here, and around the world, let's get together at Rotary and here what she has to say.  She really knows a lot!

Ann Van Dyke, Authority on State and Federal Hate Crimes (Mon. 31 Jul, 2017 12:00 pm - 1:15 pm)

TOPIC: "THE THREATENING EMERGENCE OF HATE GROUPS IN OUR MIDST"

Most all of us know and feel that we live in a wonderful country.  Thus when we hear and read about the dramatic growth of "hate groups" it is something that truly unnerves us.  Why is this happening, why is this happening more now? What is the ultimate intent of these groups?  How best should this be addressed in a free and open society?  Ms. Van Dyke is civil investigator and trainer with much experience with many municipalities, education institutions, employers and employee groups, religious and civic groups.  She has served as a trainer for the PA State Police , the US Department of Justice, and the PA Office of Attorney Gen. She has been interviewed on NPR, New York Times and the Washington. As Rotarians we should be up to date as to what Organized Hate is about!
