I have been privileged to serve as your President during the past year and to be a part of the successes that you achieved during the year. My "Year in Review" is a testament to your commitment to the Rotary mission and to the improvement and well-being of our community. We contributed $5,000 to the Polio Plus Fund and an additional $28,339 to the Rotary International Foundation in recognition of the Centennial Anniversary of the Foundation, exceeding our goal by almost $2,500. These contributions work toward the eradication of polio in the world and the funding of much needed global grant projects, such as the Dental Mission in the Dominican Republic among others.
The past year witnessed exciting new projects being undertaken by our Club, including the water improvement project in Borel, Haiti, and the Dictionary Project in the Harrisburg School District, both funded by District Club Foundation grants. We are close to realizing the establishment of a year round vision clinic at the Hamilton Heath Center.
We have continued our commitment to battling the problem of homelessness in our community and to giving young children of the community the means to achieve success through programs such as YCDT, the Four Way Test Speech and Essay contests. This has fostered their sense of self-worth and ability to set and meet personal goals.
Together we have made a difference in the lives of many who are less fortunate than us. The achievement of 37 Paul Harris awards during the year was unbelievable, coupled with our own PDG John Judson receiving the Service above Self Award from Rotary International! I personally thank each one of you for your enthusiastic commitment to the mission of Rotary and for allowing me to accompany you on this wonderful journey. I wish to specially thank Linda for her support during the year and to everyone else who provided me wise counsel.
I am looking forward to another exciting year for our Club under Sam's guidance.
Yours in Rotary,
J. Stephen Feinour
