Gates commits $355 Million to Rotary

bill_gates.jpgDear Fellow Rotarians,

This is another historic day for Rotary. Our organization was honored today to host philanthropist Bill Gates, Jr. at Rotary’s International Assembly in San Diego, California, USA.

Speaking to 2009-2010 district governors-elect, Bill Gates, Jr. congratulated Rotarians on the success of the partnership between Rotary International and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to raise funds for polio. To date, Rotarians have already committed more than US$60 million toward the original US$100 million Gates challenge grant awarded in November 2007.

Help YCDT Help Kids!

Dear Fellow Rotarians, the high school juniors and seniors enrolled in this year's Youth Community Development Team have identified the focus area of "Access to Higher Education" as their charge for the year.  The students are determined to help their peers 1) graduate high school; 2) commit to post-secondary education at a college, university or trade school; 3) navigate the application, financial aid and enrollment processes; and 4) complete their training.

Please help YCDT secure $6,000 that the students will award to a local 501(c)(3) organization to provide programming to meet the above stated outcomes.

Students are making a fundraising presentation... please attend.
